Arts and Culture Manager

Role purpose:  To lead FFL’s arts and culture programme by supporting East Bank partners and local arts and cultural organisations to devise and deliver a collaborative creative programme for 2019 and 2020

Key accountabilities

  • Work closely with the East Bank partners (through the East Bank Creative Content Group) and with local arts and cultural organisations to support them to devise and deliver a collaborative creative programme for 2019 and 2020;
  • Develop close working relationships with the East Bank partners; with individual arts and culture and community organisations in east London; with umbrella organisations such as Stratford Rising and the Hackney Wick & Fish Island Cultural Interest Group; and with programmes such as the Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture;
  • Support East Bank partners to develop a systematic approach to engagement with local arts and culture and community organisations;
  • Support East Bank partners to produce a strategic framework setting out how the collaborative creative programme will contribute towards realisation of both East Bank Strategic Objectives and individual institutional objectives;
  • Produce reports for the East Bank Strategic Objectives Board on behalf of the East Bank Creative Content Group;
  • Manage the FFL arts and culture programme budget;
  • Manage any arts and culture revenue grants that are made to FFL;
  • Manage any grants that FFL makes to support the collaborative creative programme for 2019 and 2020;
  • Write applications for external funding as required;
  • Manage the procurement, appointment and activity of artists, delivery partners, consultants etc as required;
  • Co-ordinate the production of events;
  • Liaise with East Bank partners and local organisations to report on and publicise elements of the collaborative creative programme as required.

The role-holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
This role profile does not form part of the role-holder’s contract of employment.

Role competencies

Part one - Knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrable experience of having worked with diverse communities;
  • Demonstrable experience of having delivered a wide variety of arts and culture projects within tight timescales and with restricted budgets;
  • Demonstrable experience of managing relationships with high profile international arts and culture organisations;
  • Demonstrable experience of managing relationships with local arts and culture organisations;
  • Up-to-date specialist knowledge of arts and culture policy and practice, including contemporary arts practice, socially engaged practice, community participation, culture-led regeneration, cultural programming of outdoor spaces;
  • Graduate qualification and/or experience in arts management, curation or a similar field
  • Knowledge and commitment to the principles and promotion of diversity and inclusion through the arts;
  • Successful experience in fundraising and securing support in-kind for arts and culture projects from both the public and private sectors;
